On Saturday 25 October 2025, the Renato Ratti Museum of Barolo and Alba Wines reopens to the public with a new exhibition route, hosted in the Marcenasco Monastery of the Annunziata district of La Morra. The inauguration will include the official ribbon-cutting at 3:30 p.m.
p>Founded in 1970 by Renato Ratti in the ancient cellars of the Marcenasco Monastery, the Museum was the first space entirely dedicated to the history of Langhe wines. The renovated layout follows an extensive restoration and redevelopment project of the monastic complex, completed in September 2025 thanks to the Regional Programme for the Enhancement of UNESCO Sites.
The new museum path tells the story of Renato Ratti’s life and innovations – from the classification of vintages to the creation of Barolo crus – and highlights the history of La Morra and the Langhe. The Museum extends over two levels: the ground floor hosts materials related to Ratti’s life and the local heritage, while the lower floor, within the ancient cellars, contains artefacts from the original ethnographic museum and interactive multimedia installations.
The Marcenasco Monastery, owned by the Municipality of La Morra since 1867, has been restored with a total investment of over two million euros, recovering historic frescoes and ensuring full accessibility for visitors.
Opening hours: every Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Last admission: 4:00 p.m.
Bookings: recommended at weekends, required on weekdays.
