N° 3 – Sentiero dei Castagni – Rivalta
Distance: 7.7 km
Duration: 2 hours
The trail starts from the Tourist Office. Continue along Via Vittorio Emanuele, pass the roundabout, and reach the junction between the provincial roads to Cherasco and Verduno–Bra. Take the small road in the middle, descending toward the hamlet of Simane.
The Tanaro Valley offers a stunning panorama, with the town of Cherasco standing proudly in the center of the view and the Alps, crowned by Monviso, forming the backdrop. After passing through the picturesque hamlet of Simane, follow the provincial road for a short distance, then turn left onto a local road toward Genesi–Rossi.
Near Borgata Rossi, turn left again and continue along a pleasant flat stretch surrounded by orchards and cultivated fields. At Borgata Alfieri, turn right down a farm track leading to Borgata Ascheri. Proceed on a gentle slope until you reach the provincial road in Rivalta. Turn right, cross the entire hamlet, then take the local road back toward Borgata Rossi. After about a hundred meters, turn left onto a country road surrounded by lush crops and vineyards. Continue past the provincial road until you reach Borgata Castagni. From here, turn right onto the main road and, after about 100 meters, take the left fork toward the Chapel of Loreto, clearly visible ahead.
From the chapel, the view opens up to the left toward Diano d’Alba, Alba, and Grinzane Cavour, and to the right over the hills of Castiglione Falletto. Return to La Morra by turning right onto the dirt road, crossing first through Nebbiolo vineyards, then along the ridge until you reach the sports field. A final uphill stretch leads back to the village center.
